Kashima shrines are meant to be for a specific deity of thunder, in combination with the untraditional use of steel rather than wood for the structure. The display of intricate strings help us understand the idea of collaboration towards a moment of play, like a cat’s cradle - a game in which players take turns to work with the string to unlock new forms.
Each material comes from different uses in life and are juxtaposed in unexpected unity for the physical and sonic spaces that we exist in today. The accompanied audio provides a landscape for the piece and explores this illusion of control over a chaotic and unpredictable world.

Intermission captures a moment of stillness and quiet reflection. Set in a pink bathroom, the scene is gently interrupted by a bold presence from the outside world—its view and energy seeping into the interior space. For Monette, this bathroom is her sacred space where she can sit fully in her own skin. Here, she unmasks, cleanses, and studies herself. It is her personal intermission: a pause from the performance of the external world.
A single bougainvillea flower stands as both witness and reminder—a symbol of life and beauty held in this internal pause. In this liminal space, Monette begins to recognize her quiet strength, learning to navigate environments that feel both unfixed and evolving, while nurturing a deeper connection to her inner self.

Lucid Avenue is a road where nature meets the known, the unknown, the conscious, and unconscious. Monette intends to reveal the depth and spirit of a space filled with clouds and vapor that respond in an obscure yet intimate environment.

Highlighting seasons in life, ‘Daze’ encapsulates the notion of how constructed realities appear and create desires to find clarity in our thoughts about our futures. The setting takes place in front of a window sill where light comes from different sources and time of days. The multitude of stained glass are composed to form patterns that reflect similar patterns of emotions we feel as humans.
At a moment of self-reflection, Monette felt gratitude, love, hatred, and envy. She found herself sitting in this space wondering how each and every piece of her existence and experience adds to a bigger picture.
